iGoogle ???

May 3rd, 2007

Like many people, we at Point Click use Google Personalized Homepage to keep track of myriads of information. For those who are not familiar with the Personalized Homepage, it is a modified Google home page that you can use it to keep track of your Gmail, calendars, news feeds, weather, etc., all of which will be at your fingertips whenever or wherever you log into Google. Recently I’ve noticed a change to the logo: they’ve started calling it iGoogle. Inquiring minds at Point Click wanted to know, so I decided to find out what it means.

For a while I thought Google was having an identity crisis and were going to start copying the Apple “i” brand, but according to their official blog the “i” actually stands for “interactive”. To summarize, “iGoogle” is only a name change; it’s still the same great tool it always was, and now Google Personalized Homepages are now available in 22 more countries. So if you are looking for a central place online to check email, news, stocks, weather, your to-do calendar, and a million other things, we say check out the newly renamed iGoogle.
