Last week we took a quick peek at the advantages of hiring a copywriter to help ensure that your message speaks the right words to the right people. It’s important to have the right pieces in place when connecting with your demographic, and the photography and imagery that you present to your clients can have an equally significant impact as your message.
Just as a copywriter has the background to be able to write and appeal to your demographic, a photographer has the training to be able to enhance the attractive qualities of your business from a visual perspective. Lighting, cropping, resolution – these are just a few factors that can make the difference between a high school economics project and a solid corporate branding that you would be proud to present to your clients. Here’s an example for a recent client:

Not every college student with $2,000 camera and a portfolio full of black and white portraits of their cat can be considered a professional photographer. We all know a friend of a friend who likes to take photos as a hobby. Sometimes, they can work great. You can get away with a lot more on the web than you can in print.
Take the time to research and contact various photographers and take a look at some of their past and current work. There are some photographers who specialize mainly in landscapes, portraits, weddings, etc. Make sure that the photographer has the ability to provide what you need.
Hiring a professional photographer can be expensive depending on the need. Many smaller businesses have begun resorting to stock photography. Stock photography can be a fantastic tool to use for businesses with a small budget or tight deadlines. There are oodles of websites out there that offer high quality photography at a buck or two per photo. Keep in mind though that with stock photography, you lose that intimacy that you would get with a custom photo shoot.
The thought of an added expense should be the last thing on your mind when considering your branding. As with writing, having proper photography can boost the appeal of your products or services exponentially. If you feel the need to liven up your imagery and the Yellow Pages aren’t for you (seriously, who uses a phone book these days?), contact Point.Click Media.
